The Entourage Effect

The Entourage Effect

Haha! ๐Ÿ˜‚ No, I’m not referring to HBO’s Entourage show that ran for eight seasons from 2004 to 2011…But let me mention that for a sec while I’m at it. That show was quite a hit! If you recall, the whole show was chronicling the acting career of one of the characters as he tries to make it in Hollywood from Queens, NY.

What’s interesting is that his childhood friends move with him and the whole show is about male friendship and how they go about navigating their new world together.

Well interestingly, there is a new kid in town and it appears that this kid has moved in with its friends as well and they’re navigating the political and wellness system in BR. BOOM!

Enter the Cannabis Entourage! ๐ŸŒฟ

You guessed it! I’m referring to whole plant group Cannabis and there’s quite a few friends that make up that group actually. The star of the group is THC and some of its friends are well known like CBD, but some are lesser well known like CBC, CBG, CBN, THCa and THCv and their cousins the Terpenes. I bet you didn’t know that, did ya?

I could give you their full names but it might cause you to be less interested in the point I’m trying to make. The interactive synergy between these ‘friends” is known as the “entourage effect” and it’s what makes this plant work better as a whole than in parts.

Not to say that CBD products don’t work well alone. In fact, they really do but when you add its friends THC et al., it’s MAGICAL!

THC-only and CBD-only products have been synthesized in recent years and designed to treat specific conditions. They work well but are somewhat limited in the scope of conditions they can treat. Once you understand the depth and breadth of the conditions that the whole plant can treat, it gives you a whole different perspective.

This is the reason I have my patients complete a thorough medical history questionnaire that covers a whole range of symptoms and diseases. The reason is there is so much to be gained by knowing what all you can treat if you are going to use medical marijuana as a treatment option for one or more of the current qualifying conditions.

The “entourage effect” of cannabis is certainly what sets this plant apart from any other. If you would like to learn more, then join us by reserving your seat at one of our Medical Marijuana and Wellness seminars here.
